Being able to see the great Teide, the highest peak of Spain, from a place away from the hustle and bustle of the city is just one of the many ways you can experience Tenerife. But there are also other panoramas on different viewpoints of the island that will make you feel, just by visiting that place, that the trip was worth it. Every corner has something special. Do you feel like discovering it?
North Tenerife
Mirador de La Atalaya (El Tanque)

The north of Tenerife leaves us with some totally impressive landscapes. You can see its incredible panoramas, the green landscape and the blue sea from almost every viewpoint. The ‘La Atalaya’ viewpoint collects all these points in one little space, located in the municipality of El Tanque. It is not very easy to access, but with a little help of the GPS, there won’t be any problems since it is well marked.
You will have to descend 200 meters along a paved path to reach the edge of the cliff and enjoy Garachico from the sky. Its great rock will look small from the large balcony of ‘la Isla Baja’ or the Lower Island.
Mirador de La Corona y El Lance (Los Realejos)

At the top of the hillside near the Orotava Valley you will find Mirador de La Corona, where you can enjoy the views, the sea, the nature…and if you are lucky you catch a glimpse of an adventurer paragliding. If you are one of them, take a deep breath, don’t stop running and most importantly don’t look down.

Just before we arrive at Mirador El Lance, and not less important, we will see a large bronze sculpture that’s worth the view. This is Mencey Bentor, a guanche king who preferred to jump into the emptiness from this place, than to be captured by the Castilian troops during the conquest of the island. The statue, with its ‘attributes’ uncovered, is easy to access and has a cafeteria.
Mirador de San Pedro (Los Realejos)

If you visit Mirador de La Corona, take advantage of the trip, get closer to the Los Realejos coast and visit Mirador de San Pedro. From here you can enjoy the many banana plantations, the plants which contain the delicious ‘plátano canario’ or the Canary banana, a typical aspect of the northern landscape or the north coast of Tenerife.

What better plan than to eat or drink something with those panoramic views? You can do so in the cafeteria next to the viewpoint. If you decide to go there and you have time, you can take advantage and walk down the Rambla de Castro, which we will talk about in another post.
Mirador de Humboldt (La Orotava)

At this viewpoint you can enjoy some panoramic views, similar to the ones at La Corona, but from a lower level and from another point in the valley. What makes it so attractive? The view of the banana plantations and the majestic Mount Teide in the background.
Mirador Dulce María Loynaz (Puerto de la Cruz)

The Taoro park is a place that anyone who visits Puerto de la Cruz, should know about. Why? Simple, its landscaped areas, playground for kids, coffee shop and waterfalls, all that on top of a mountain which will disconnect you from the hustle and bustle of the city. As well as the views from the viewpoint, located in the park, from where you can observe the town from above. Lago Martiánez, the little harbour, Punta Brava or the lighthouse. Jewels of the most important tourist municipality in the north of Tenerife.
Mirador de La Paz (Puerto de la Cruz)

If you visit Taoro Park, do not miss the opportunity to visit Mirador de La Paz, one of the few viewpoints in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. From there you will have the best views of Martiánez Beach and Lago Martiánez. Watching the sun disappear on the horizon, illuminating the last hours of the day, will make you forget the world for a few moments.
Mirador de Chipeque (Santa Úrsula)

Chipeque is an unknown viewpoint for visitors and also for some inhabitants of the island, but nobody should miss out on it. It is fully accessible to anyone and has an information panel that explains many of the aspects that we can find there. Surrounded by the Canary Pine trees, you can observe the north of Tenerife, the Teide or the silhouette of the island of La Palma. You will enjoy the tranquillity, nature and the wind whistling through the pines.
Mirador de La Garañona (El Sauzal)

From Mirador de La Garañona you will get the best cliffs of the Acentejo coast, and the beach that gives its name to the place. With a cafeteria, walking routes and palm trees, it is not a place that is accessible for all audiences as it is accessed only by stairs. Also a place not suitable for people who are afraid of heights.
Mirador de Jardina (San Cristóbal de La Laguna)

From this viewpoint, the start of Park Rural de Anaga, you can enjoy beautiful views of the city of La Laguna. Furthermore, you can admire the Teide from a totally accessible place. And don’t forget to bring a jacket with you, if you do not want to freeze.
Mirador Pico del Inglés (Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

Due to its wonderful views, Pico del Inglés is one of the most visited viewpoints of the island. In addition, it is very close to Jardina. It can be accessed easily by car and bus, or ‘guagua’ as we say here, but unfortunately, it is not adapted for people with disabilities. No more description needed, the images will speak for themselves.
Mirador de Los Campitos (Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

This place offers a global view over the capital of Tenerife. The harbour, the city, the sea and the island of Gran Canaria, are some of the gems that we can observe from Mirador de Los Campitos. It is accessible for everyone, although there is no ‘guagua’ (bus) service that can take you there.
Mirador de Las Teresitas (Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

From this place you will get a unique image of the Las Teresitas beach and Las Gaviotas Beach. Two very different places: One beach with white sand and turquoise waters, and the other with volcanic black sand and the essence of an Atlantic beach. To access the viewpoint we will have to follow the road that leads to Igueste de San Andrés, you can also go there by bus, as there is a ‘guagua’ (bus) stop at the viewpoint, you can get there by taking line 945.
South of Tenerife
Mirador de Masca (Masca)

This viewpoint is located in a small nucleus of houses, located between the mountains of Masca, a town that was destroyed years ago after a fire. The road to get to this viewpoint is more challenging than we would like: Tight and narrow roads, large rocks around us… but all this will be worth it.

From here you can continue your route on foot, through a ravine, all the way down to the sea, that will take up to three or four hours. Ideally, to avoid having to climb back up again, its recommended to take a boat or kayak to the Los Gigantes Harbour, but we will tell you more about that in another post.
Mirador de Cherfe will also give us unique snapshots. Those places that take your breath away and where silence takes hold of us…
Mirador de Los Gigantes (Santiago del Teide)

Another topic that we will attend in another post, is Los Gigantes. We dare to say that the view of the great cliffs of Los Gigantes is one of the most impressive and spectacular on the island. For the Guanches, these walls were sacred and represented the end of the world. Having the opportunity to see this landscape is unique, so highlight this viewpoint on your map, because it will be an unforgettable experience.
These are just some of the many viewpoints that we recommend you to visit in Tenerife. As well as in every corner of the island, you will find landscapes that will be engraved in your mind. One last recommendation, bring a camera with enough memory or mobile storage because you will discover such beautiful places that and you cannot stop capturing.
